Chieftain Armoured Troop (TBBX01) Chieftain Armoured Troop (TBBX01)
includes five plastic Chieftain tanks, one resin tank commander sprue and four unit cards.

The British fought the Second World War in fast light tanks, outgunned by their opponents. Now, the Chieftain tank has the thickest armour and biggest gun of any tank in NATO.

With its usual professionalism, the British Army had prepared for war. Now, as the Soviet Army flooded across the border into West Germany, it was ready and waiting. Fox, Scorpion and Scimitar recon vehicles skirmished with the Soviet forward detachments as the Challenger and Chieftain armoured regiments waited. The infantry held the towns and woods, forcing the enemy into killing zones, new Warrior infantry fighting vehicles in fire support. If anything broke through, the airmobile troops in their Lynx helicopters would hold them. The British Army is ready.

World War III: British
When it entered service in 1966, the Chieftain was a behemoth capable of overpowering any tank in existence. It still is, despite twenty years of evolution in tank design, a tough opponent. This evolution has not passed the Chieftain by. The front of its turret now bears a layer of ‘Stillbrew’ armour, maintaining its edge as one of the best protected tanks in the world.

The massive rifled 120mm gun has also withstood the test of time. It uses a separate charge and round which allowed more ammunition to be carried, with less chance of the tank ‘brewing up’ when hit. Firing the latest anti-tank rounds, it can penetrate any tank in existence at long range, while its HESH (High Explosive Squash Head) rounds are extremely deadly against troops in buildings and bunkers.
