includes five plastic Challenger tanks, one resin tank commander sprue and four unit cards.

The new Challenger is not so much a revolution, but an evolution of the tried and tested Chieftain. The armour has been improved incorporating composite Chobham armour The engine, transmission and suspension all have better performance and reliability, making it faster and more manoeuvrable than the Chieftain.

With its usual professionalism, the British Army had prepared for war. Now, as the Soviet Army flooded across the border into West Germany, it was ready and waiting. Fox, Scorpion and Scimitar recon vehicles skirmished with the Soviet forward detachments as the Challenger and Chieftain armoured regiments waited. The infantry held the towns and woods, forcing the enemy into killing zones, new Warrior infantry fighting vehicles in fire support. If anything broke through, the airmobile troops in their Lynx helicopters would hold them. The British Army is ready.

It is armed with the same powerful 120mm rifled gun found on the Chieftain, but has been further enhanced with the introduction of the TOGS thermal imaging system, making it a more effective fighting machine at night. Royal Ordnance developed the ROMOR Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA) package to be installed on vehicles to increase their protection against High Explosive Anti- Tank (HEAT) weapons. The package developed for the Challenger consists of ROMOR protection for the front hull glacis and nose, as well as additional Chobham composite armour that replaced the normal bazooka side skirts.
