How Do You Guys Work So Fast?!

with James Brown

In just the first week since Team Yankee was released, some people have already done an amazing job with their models.

I'm notorious in the Battlefront studio for being terrible at finishing models. I'm much more likely to get distracted by an exciting new idea midway though, leaving a shameful string of half-finished projects. I also like to take my time, obsessing over minor details. In short, my modelling output tends to be embarrassingly tiny.

So I'm always very impressed by people who can quickly and efficiently churn out good-looking models. I've been watching our our forum and social media channels, and have assembled some highlights of people who haven't been wasting any time getting their Team Yankee forces ready for the table.

With the end of the Second World War in 1945, many hoped peace would follow. Instead, for forty years, East and West have faced off across armed borders.

Now it's 1985, and the Cold War just got hot!

Team Yankee brings to life the 1980s conflict that could have been, in miniature on your tabletop.

UNIMOGTR (United Modellers Group Turkey) are a professional painting service. And they clearly know what they are doing, as you can see from this pair of AH-1 Cobras...

Judging by these two Mi-24 Hinds, Shane Kua will soon have a very impressive Soviet army.

Andy Brown posted this work-in-progress shot of his American armour; you can see Andy has been drawing inspiration from Shane's skilled and speedy work.

Bartosz Podniesinski has started painted his American tanks in plain Forest Green. He shows how the Abrams, with its flat sides and sharp angles, looks extremely effective with some expert modulation-style highlighting and subtle weathering. Very nice work, Bartosz!

Actually, second only to MERDC, NATO 3-colour seems to be a very popular choice. It certainly is eye-catching. For example, these check out these tanks by Andreas Zeck...

Last but not least, I have really enjoyed seeing some very nice work from Khairul Effendy, the operations manager at our Malaysian factory. (strictly speaking it's a bit cheeky including Khairul and Jeff's work in this gallary, since they have had a bit more time to work on their models. But I don't care - nice work is nice work! Anyway, Jeff and Khairul are great guys, but being in different countries, without Facebook I'd almost never get to see their work. Isn't social media great?)

I know this is just a small selection of the modelling work that is going on all over the world now that Team Yankee has, at long last, been released. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to share their photos, and I look forward to seeing more as new models come out over the next couple of months. This is shaping up to be a hugely fun (and good-looking – which, for me, is the most important thing) period.
