Iron Maiden UK Mega Battle (Part 2)
Turn 10 Soviets consolidate their positions on the eastern side of the river Leine for the main push, relying on numbers and weight of fire to overwhelm the Chieftains. The second smaller unit of Gordon Highlanders on the smaller hill are killed to a man after a heavy combined Soviet assault.
Turn 11 The main battle tanks of both sides engage across the entire line, with all scoring kills. The entire might of both armies are now fully committed.

Turn 12 The Gordon Highlanders, bloody and victorious, manage to board their helicopters just as the hill is overrun. Taking near 75% losses but having stalled the Soviet advance long enough for the British main column to take up positions along the river Leine.
Losses in the tank battle mount as both sides lose large numbers of vehicles. The Soviet Hind airpower is lost over the western side of the river. But the Brits hold on the bridge is almost broken as well. |
Turn 13 Soviet forces break through on the southern side of the river, sending BMPs to exploit the opening. But superior armour and firepower are starting to tell in the Chieftains favour in the north.

|
Turn 14 Soviet SU-25 Frogfoots begin pounding the Brits lines but can’t stop the Chieftains advancing across the ford in the north and attacking on the beleaguered Soviet forces in the flanks. In the south the breach is contained using TOW Lynx attack helicopters. The bridge in the centre stays in British hands. |
|
Dangerously understrength and now suffering a counter-attack by the British forces the Soviets call a general withdrawal. It’s time for a different Soviet formation to take their turn pushing into Western Germany. |
With the Leine River defended and no Soviet forces in the outskirts of Rinteln, it’s a full victory for the British forces. Western Europe is one big step closer to pushing back the USSR! Long live the Queen!
